To the citizens who are served by the Central Nebraska Humane Society:

We have set a goal to complete our Capital Campaign in 2010. When the new facility was built in 2007, the pledges covered all but $140,000 of the necessary 1.6 million dollars. However, the additional amount needed to complete the campaign has increased to $214,000 because of the inability of some people to pay their pledges due to the poor economy.

The support of the area residents has been critical to us in our mission to care for the animals. More and more animals are finding themselves homeless with no medical care and not enough food. With your help, we have been able to increase adoption rates more than 20% and lower the euthanasia rates more than 30%. We have also worked hard to prosecute animal abusers, rescued horses and taken nearly 200 dogs and cats from animal hoarders and inhumane situations.

We have already raised over $50,000, but we need $164,000 to complete our capital campaign. We are asking our supporters to consider either an extension of their pledge for an additional year, or a donation of any amount. The Board of Directors understands the economic crisis is affecting everyone, but if you are able, please support our mission to care for abandoned, lost and homeless animals in the Central Nebraska area.
