Georgina
Brian and Taryn Welch
Adoption Date: Oct, 2009
We found Georgina on the internet and Brian's mom and sister went to visiot her at the Humane Society. Brian's mom called him and told him she is a verry loveable dog and loves to cuddel. We drove to Grand Island to meet her the next day and found that she warmed up to us verry well. We took her to Brian's parents house where we stayed that night she seemed a little nervous when we where there but when we took her to our house she warmed up realy fast. She seems to be nervous around males but wants she gets to know you she is as playfull as ever. Her favorit place to be is with her head on your sholder. We got her a few toys but she seems to love all of them. We got her so that she could help Taryn with some problems and she is doing a great job at that. We are so happy that we where able to get her and she seems like she is realy happy that we got her to. Georgina has became a spoiald doggie and has met some playmates from Brian's Coworkers. We would like to see more people rescue animails from the Humane Society becaue it is verry rewarding and has many binifits. Most of the animails just need a loving home. We would love to Get another animail from he Central Nebraska Humane Society when we are ready for another one. I would like to thank the staff at the Central Nebraska Humane Socity for all they do for these animals. All they need is a little love and a new loving home. Georgina has turned out to be a sweet dog that is full of energy and love. I hope if anyone is looking for a new pet that they consider adopting one from the Central Nebraska Humane Society or there local pet shelter. They deserve a second chance you just got to give it to them.

Chex
Steve & Gail Johnson
Adoption Date: Dec. 13th, 2003
We adopted Chex from your organization 6 years ago to be a companian for our other beagle. Chex is Beagle/Basset Hound and him and his buddy our quite close and have been for the last six years. We have also gotten a 3rd beagle/basset hound and all 3 are fine.
Chex has gotten to be a very nice and important part of this family. We were informed upon adoption that he had an escape problem, but since moving in with us, the problem has been cured. We have gotten very fond of Chex and think a lot of him. In other words, I am pround to say that he has done and continues to do a fine job fitting in with this family.

Zoe
Seth and Angela Blank
Adoption Date: December 2005
My wife found Zoe --- a terrier mix --- at the humane society after we had decided to get a dog. All I can say is she's turned out to be pretty amazing and has brought a lot of joy to our lives. Even my parents love babysitting her when we're gone. She's extremely smart (knows how to fetch her collar, sit, stay, roll over, play dead, high-five, etc.) and hardly ever barks, which can be a blessing living in town.
For anyone looking for a dog, I'd recommend checking out the humane society first.

Sadie
Connie Troutner
Adoption Date: 1/23/10
Our Sussex Spaniel Sammy had to be put down on 1/21/10 due to illness at age 14. He was a rescue pet as well. My daughter drove to North Platte from Denver to be with us and say goodbye. She found Sadie online the next day and thought she would be a good friend for our other minature cocker spaniel, Star (12) who we rescued also in 2005. So we drove to Grand Island from North Platte so Star could meet Sadie and they instantly loved each other and seemed to get along great! She seemed to be so happy to be with us all it was just meant to be that day. So we adopted Sadie and she has brought us all so much joy and she has helped lift the sadness from our loss of Sammy. She is the sweetest dog ever and immediately took to everyone in our family and to her new routine. She sleeps right up on our bed alongside Star and sleeps all night! She is a wonderful dog and we are so happy to have her! She has been checked by our vet and has been groomed and is just beautiful! Our daughter got her some toys and she loves to play fetch with them. She loves to sit in my lap and be loved. Thanks so much for taking her in and allowing us to find her via your website! You do such a great service to all the dogs who just need a little love and a new home. At first I thought it was too soon to be getting another dog after Sammy died, but it was the right thing to do as she has brought joy to our lives again. It was definitely worth the drive and both dogs slept almost all the way home! Unbelievable!

Roco
Jeanine Eiberger
Adoption Date: Febr., 2009
I adopted Roco a year ago. He is a border terrier. I originally came to the Humane Society looking for my dog, Jake, a black lab mix, who was taken from my yard Christmas night, 2008. Sadly, I was unable to find Jake after putting ads in the papers and posting fliers. I knew I could not replace Jake, but I knew that I wanted another dog. I deliberately looked for a different breed, for that reason. My daughter and I found Roco in a kennel with his brother. We had originally come to look at another dog, but it appeared that Roco's brother was being adopted and he would be left alone, so upon spending some time with him, we fell in love with him and adopted him. He is sweet and affectionate and at times very mischievious, but always very lovable. I would love to adopt another dog from the Humane Society, this time a black lab or black lab mix. Adopting from the Humane Society has definitely been a great experience.

Pebbles
Cheryl Henrichs
Adoption Date: May 2002
We had recently lost our Siamese Mix to cancer. I had always wanted a gray tabby striped cat. We came to the Humane Society that day to just look. Pebbles was in her cage and very personable. The tag said that she had been left in one of the outside pens with a litter of kittens on a cold night in January. Her kittens had since been adopted out. We fell in love and brought her home with us. To this day she hates to be cold. At night she snuggles under the covers of the bed and poes her head out on the pillow sleeping just like a little human. She ia a busy body always a wanting to 'help' especially folding clothes. I'm glad that someone dropped her off for a chance and we found her. She is approx 10yrs old now according to our vet. She is a joy to wake up to every morning.
